A new, upbeat rock track plays. A fiery young Chinese woman with bright pink streaks in her ponytailed hair, tied with dice ropes and charming Chinese idol-themed gear, makes her way to the ring to great reaction.

Briar Lane: The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from Macau, China, standing 5 ft 2 and weighing in at 118 pounds, "Lucky" Lei D!

Dominga: Where are the Madness? Where's Asovale? I think they missed a spot.

Shamoon: Do you have to be such an elitist all the time?

Dominga: It's not elitist to want to see WRESTLERS on a WRESTLING SHOW, instead of a damn pop star!

Shamoon: She's not a pop star; she was an idol. There's a difference.

Dominga: Yeah, well, God hates idols, and so do I.

Shamoon: Wow.

A.B.: Wow, indeed. Anyway, yes, Aazif is correct, "Lucky" Lei D was a popular idol in her home nation, but also a long-time wrestling fan. Another student of the great Kalavina Leota.

Dominga: What is with that lady and telling these outsiders they belong here?

A.B.: You just saw the Track Queens-

Dominga: I saw them outwrestle Vloggers, then get destroyed by REAL wrestlers.

Shamoon: They were ambushed.

Dominga: Wouldn't have made a difference.

Lei D climbs the turnbuckle and plays to the adoring crowd.

A.B.: You can't deny her popularity at least.

Dominga: Fast food restaurants are "popular".

Shamoon: She has some really good songs.

Dominga: You would say that.

Lei D hops down and takes a deep breath, preparing for her opponent. The arena darkens, and a low buzzing sound is heard on the speakers. A series of numbers flashes on the titantron. 4. 13. 23. 30. 4. 13. 23. 30. 4. 13. 23. 30. Over and over this sequence repeats as a big, black owl creature flies closer and closer, reaching out with its talons and SCREECHING.

Fireworks explode, purple smoke fills the arena, and an intense guitar solo plays. A tall, dark-skinned woman clad in all black with round sunglasses and a long, feathery coat makes her way down to the ring.

Briar Lane: And the opponent, from Mombasa Island of the coast of Kenya, standing 5 ft 10 and weighing in at 165 pounds, The Dark Talon, ATHIIIIAMBOOO!

Dominga: That, caballeros, is a WRESTLER!

A.B.: Athiambo, an acquisition from the Lion's Den Combat Club in Singapore, where she was the Women's World Champion for 370 days. Before that, she was one of promoter, Arthur Chen's most lethal enforcers and tag partner to Zadie Chen, who we will see in action in tonight's Madhouse Showcase main event.

Shamoon: Yeah, I heard some really messed-up things about-

A.B.: Aaz, for your safety and ours, go no further with that.

Dominga: In other words, shut up, Shamoon!

Athiambo climbs a turnbuckle and removes her glasses to reveal her face, so uncannily owl-like with large, cold eyes. Lei D puts on the bravest face she can as the Dark Talon throws off her coat and leaps from the turnbuckle.

Referee Georgia Holiday calls for the bell.

Neither combat moves. Lei D has a low grappling stance in her corner, while Athiambo remains upright in the centre, staring unblinkingly.

Dominga: Look at her. Like a cat watching a field mouse.

Shamoon: Pretty sure, she's supposed to be an owl. There was like a whole thing just now.

Dominga: Owls are cats with wings. The analogy works.

A.B.: Hmm. Never thought about it like that before. But the intimidation factor is definitely there. Not just the size and experience factor, but the aura that the Dark Talon emits seems to leave Lei D puzzled on how to approach.

Lei D tries circling, Athiambo remains rooted to the spot, following her with her eyes but never turning her head. Lei D then quickly rushes behind, out of her field of vision and runs into a swift kick.

A.B.: Did you see the speed of that kick?

Shamoon: I didn't see anything. I blinked, and Lei D was down.

Dominga: Pop star nearly got her head popped off. HA!

Athiambo grabs the dazed idol and puts her head between her legs, before hooking her arms.

Dominga: Here it comes...

Athiambo then lifts Lei D up and falls to her knees for a piledriver.

A.B.: Tiger Driver '91 by Athiambo. There's the cover. There's the 3-count. This one is over! Lei D was anything but "Lucky" tonight.

Athiambo stands up and promptly leaves the ring as the Holiday checks on the crumpled

Dominga: Now, go back to singing!

Shamoon: There's no shame in losing to someone like Athiambo. Lei D's still new to the business, and she's bound to take licks. I just hope she keeps going.

Dominga: She's not going to last.

Lei D slowly holds up a thumb while clutching her neck, which gets some cheers from the crowd.

A.B.: I don't think she's going anywhere just yet.

Dominga: Whatever, the real story is Athiambo! I hope everyone in tonight's main event was paying attention. That right there is a future Jewell's Championship contender, and she'll take advantage of ANY weakness.

Alf glares at her.

Dominga: With respect!
