PSW Fight Pit Episode 1 - Danys Vités vs El Cirujano

SDS: It is now time for some Thunderweight action!

David Bekker: The following contest is scheduled for one fall!

Crowd: One fall!

A deep rumbling futuristic track plays. The two big screens on the stage each show a speed-o-meter, which transitions into a vortex. A flash of light and the first-person camera rushes through a subway, exits onto a busy street at even greater speeds.

An explosion and a blurry streak of blue, black and orange rushes down the ramp and circles the ring 5 times, before stopping at the base of the ramp. Vités runs forward and slides feet-first into the ring.

He raises a hand in the air, his eyes glowing amber behind his black mask and drops it. A trail of blue pyro runs comes down the ramp mimicking his previous path. The Tequila crowd loses it, just like the Sambuca crowd at Ascension.

SDS: My goodness. The speed of this young man.

DS: How is that even legal? I think he set the floor mats on fire!

David Bekker: Already in the ring, from Port-au-Prince, Gônave-Azuei, Haiti, standing 175 centimetres and weighing in at 86 kilos. Danys Vités!

SDS: The man who, at 23, came oh-so-close to becoming the first-ever Thunderweight Champion on Sunday. What a performance!

DS: It was a great match, Darryl... but he lost.

SDS: To a lucha libre legend in El Demonio de las Heladas.

DS: He still lost.

SDS: He took Heladas to the absolute limit. It took two Frostbite cutters and a Shooting Star Press to do it. When was the last time you saw the Demon do a Shooting Star?

DS: Not since he was Zero, I think, but it doesn't matter. Take nothing away, it was a phenomenal match, but the point is, we only have two sets of floating titles in this company. The tag belts aren't going anywhere as long as Pandemonium's got them, but Thunder was up for grabs. Vités had a chance to bring it over and make the Fight Pit the title show, and he failed.

SDS: I can't argue with you there.

Vités shadow boxes and shadow kickboxes in the ring.

SDS: This is a must-win Vités if he wants to get back in the title hunt, or he'll be lapped by the other hungry Thunderweights on both shows.

The two big screens are completely white. The steady beat of a heartbeat monitor is heard, the green line going up and down, up and down, before flatlining.

SDS: Like this man!

The sound of electricity is heard, and instead of the beeping, it's a heavy drumbeat accompanied by Argentine Rock. White fog covers the stage, and out walks a tall, lean, fair-skinned man in a white mask with a green cross on it covering his entire head, except for his dark eyes. He is clad in more white, with the green cross appearing on his fingerless gloves, trunks and boots.

DS: Oh man, Darryl, this homem is the real deal.

He raises his hands, looking at them with a quizzical head tilt, then looks up, clenches them into fists, and slowly makes his way to the ring.

SDS: You know him?

DS: Know him? He's a big reason I'm happy to sit in this chair.

David Bekker: And his opponent, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, standing 183 centimetres and weighing in at 98 kilos, El Cirujano!

SDS: Tell us about him.

DS: You know how a lot of Latinos, we grow up watching the luchadors and wanting to be them. Not this guy. He can move, he can fly, but his heroes were those Britânicos, man. The guys who liked ripping joints, like the Wallaces' old man, Big Dick.

SDS: Santos-

DS: That was his name, I'm serious! Anyway, this guy. Faced off with him a few years back in this event in Chile, the Liga Latino, wrestlers from Mexico down. I was already thinking about hanging it up, but they offered me a lot of money, and I was feeling really stupid.

SDS: More than usual?

DS: Very funny. First match, he has me in this leglock, tears my groin so bad, I thought I'd need a transplant.

Stroligo's eyes go wide as Cirujano wipes his feet on the apron and enters the ring, immediately towering over Vités.

DS: I was pretty much done after that, and he went on to win the whole thing.

SDS: My God... I thought maybe you'd had too much fun with your latest affair.

DS: Oh, that came afterwards... Not a great idea.

SDS: Story of your life. That just means Danys Vités has one hell of a challenge ahead of him. On top of being dangerous, as you alluded, Cirujano is a veteran and the bigger, stronger man in this contest, with a reach advantage too.

Referee Obi Mbuemo calls for the bell, and the two men circle each other.

DS: Yeah, but Vités is no slouch either, despite the guff I gave him for losing. He's fast as lightning, and he's like you with that kickboxing.

SDS: Kickboxing, karate and taekwondo.

DS: And he can literally set himself on fire! How do you grapple that?

SDS: Actually, he can't. It's been ruled that his pyromancy is only permitted in special cases, such as when facing off with a cryomancer like the champion, Heladas, as he did on Sunday.

DS: What, why? Who decided that?

SDS: Dr Sharma insisted on it.

DS: That lady's such a buzzkill. It's called Psycho Style dam-

SDS: Vités going for a Superman punch! Caught in mid-air by Cirujano! What a beautiful arm-drag and now he's- He's got his finger. He's trying to pull Vités' fingers apart. The speedster is screaming!

DS: This is what I was talking about. This Cirujano is a sadist, man! You don't give him an opening like that? The hell was Vités thinking with that Superman punch?

SDS: Trying to put on a show, but he picked the wrong time to do it.

DS: He did that on Sunday, too, and Heladas took advantage.

SDS: And now Cirujano, stomping on those same fingers! Now the knee! Now the ankle! Now the chest! Knee drop to the face! SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT! Brilliant sequence by Cirujano. Cover and Vités gets the shoulder up.

DS: And Cirujano goes right back to those fingers.

SDS: I can tell you from experience, even as someone who favoured my feet, damaged or broken fingers? Not fun at all.

DS: Yeah, cause that's your hand. You're going to flex and move them without thinking, and boom! Pain shooting up your arm. Can't grab, can't catch yourself if you fall, it sucks!

Cirujano applies a grounded hammerlock on Vités, let's go, and quickly and precisely kicks the speedster's hand while it's behind his back.

SDS: Unique and brutal offence from the Argentinian. And speaking of Heladas, did you hear his message on Monday? He declared himself a god and told all the Thunderweights, which is about half the men and over 90% of the women, that he'd be demanding sacrifices.

DS: Yeah, and right now, Vités is getting surgificed.

SDS: That's not a word.

DS: Man, Heladas, he's a predator. He'll come for you if he smells blood, but he's got to be watching this right now and realising there's people with teeth.

SDS: Indeed. If anyone could match Heladas in the submission game, this Cirujano is a strong candidate. He's going for the fingers agai- Kick to the face! Vités with the tip of his boot to the Surgeon's face! What flexibility!

Cirujano is sent stumbling, holding his nose area. Vités gets up, shaking his hand to get the feeling back in his fingers. Cirujano charges. Vités ducks and sweeps his legs out from under him.

SDS: Vités with the quick feet. Standing moonsault!

DS: Look at this. Just like you mentioned, as soon as he landed, he has to rub those fingers, wasting valuable time.

SDS: Cover here. Cirujano kicks out! Vités with a sharp kick to the back! Running the ropes. Basement dropkick! Another cover. Another kickout by Cirujano and Diogo, his mask, it's stained red.

DS: Yeah,  I think Vités might have broken his nose or busted his mouth, I can't tell! You see how fast he was going?!

SDS: And now Vités picking Cirujano up. Going for that signature Standing Shiranui- German Suplex by Cirujano! What a counter! Kick out at 2 by Vités! Both men back to their feet. Drop toe hold, and now an STF by Cirujano! Centre of the ring!

DS: Cirujano Stretch! He calls it the Cirujano Stretch! Because you need a stretcher when he's done with you! Vités has nowhere to go!

SDS: But Vités with that pressure on his knee and the choke applied on his neck, dragging himself to the bottom rope! At Ascension, he used his pyromancy to escape Heladas' hold. He can't do that here! Can he make it? Can he...? HE DOES! Vités grabbed the rope and Cirujano has to break the hold.

He does not break the hold. The crowd boos.

Mbuemo: Release it! Release the hold, right now! Come on, 1! 2! 3! 4!

DS: Now he does! Had to make it hurt first.

SDS: Now he's dragging Vités back to the centre. Kicked away! Vités trying to get back up. Running knee by Cirujano- Misses! Roll-up by Vités! Kickout! Both men up! Roundhouse by Vités-NO! Roll-up by Cirujano! Kick out by Vités!

DS: They're picking up the pace, Darryl!

SDS: Both men up again. Vités charging in. Kick to the gut by Cirujano. Front facelock applied. Suplex! No release. Swish of the hips. Back to their feet! Second suplex! Cirujano might be going for the 3 Amigos-NO, it was a brainbuster!

DS: El Cirujano Cerebral!

SDS: And Vités with a CLOSE kick out! That was two and eight-fifths!

DS: It's only a matter of time!

SDS: Cirujano dragging Vités up! He's got the arms trapped, going for a neckbreaker! He calls this the Scalpel Cutter- Vités kicked his knee! Vités kick Cirujano in the knee to escape the move!

Cirujano drops to one knee. Vités sprints to the ropes, using them for a super speed run back. Cirujano turns around and eats a single leg dropkick to the face. The crowd goes nuts.

SDS: Flaming Dash! Vités nearly decapitated the Surgeon!

DS: If that nose wasn't broken, it is now!

Vités shakes his hand again, having used it to break his fall, and flexes his fingers, dragging himself to the pin.

SDS: Cover by Vités! This one is over!

The crowd roars in approval! Mbuemo raises Vités' hand in victory.

DS: That was awesome, Darryl! And you see? He won! Now, he just has to do that when there's gold on the line.

SDS: Indeed, he does, but take nothing away from the veteran Cirujano! He gave as good as he got, and if he had been just a little quicker, he would have won this.

DS: Oh, yeah, definitely. I can't wait to see more of him in the Fight Pit! From a distance, of course!

Vités slides his hand over his mask and points at the stage with his eyes once again glowing amber.
